Landcare Australia celebrates its 20th anniversary!

Landcare Australia will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. Landcare Week (7-13 September) will mark the occasion with the theme “The Landcare Journey” and by celebrating the huge contribution Landcare volunteers have made to their local communities. The campaign encourages people to join a group or start their own group.

The ‘Source to Sea’ (S2S) events aim to raise awareness of the work done by landcare, Bushcare and Rivercare groups and highlight the environmental issues they face.

Guy joined the team of kayakers that paddled 150km down the east coast finishing at Palm Beach in Sydney.

“We can all do our bit to address issues like increasing salinity and pollution that threaten our waterways. As always, Landcare has developed a wonderful event that will really highlight the issues that landcare groups face when trying to reverse or halt the damage that threatens our waterways,” Guy said.

“The event is also a great opportunity for volunteers to get on board to give as little or as much of their time to local landcare groups as they are able. Every little bit counts as our collective efforts can make a real difference.”
